The month of June was not easy for many people in Chicago. The following links will explain why.
Sun TimesThat's all for now. My apologies to anyone whom has seen delays in our efforts. This is a difficult time. Take care, stay strong, and try and realize how important your friends and family truly are. Peace out, girl scouts.
Sorry I missed the Hip Lit Fair! I heard it was excellent! This saturday we got a new event comin up though! And I will definitely be there! SO you should too!
The Indie Arts Market is 4 hours of DIY shopping madness! May 31st, from 11am-3pm, at Schubas Tavern (belmont and southport) there will be a whole lotta cool kids selling zines, books, hand-printed stuff, and TONS of artwork! Come check it out! And check out the website for more info!
www.indieartsmarket.comI always feel so overwhelmed with my life, which is brought on by my own need to take on as many projects as possible. But then I go a couple months without updating the old Loop Distro and I feel bad about it! But Bradley ADITA says that updating every couple months is plenty good, and we had a general pep talk yesterday and now I'm ready to take on the zine world again! So here ya go, 11 new zines I've had forever, but am just now getting up on the site!
So, it's summer time, and that means zine season is just underway! Click on my "Site of the Week" to get more info on the Hip Lit Fair, which is going on this Saturday at the MCA. Sadly, I will not be able to make it, but I will send along my 2nd Hand man to take care of things in my place, so go down and pick yourself up some coolness! There's a long list of awesome Chicago zine peeps who will be there!
May 31st is also fast approaching, which means the Indie Arts Market is almost here! That takes place up on Belmont, and will showcase 30 tables of people selling art, zines, books, markers, greeting cards, music, jewlery, and much more. It's only from 11AM-3PM, so make it out!
Loop Distro is also very close to confirming a trip to Detroit for the AMC this June. Anyone else in on that? Get in touch with me!
OH! And there's a zine reading in the next couple weeks! Get ahold of Aaron Cynic for those details, and of course Kelly Shortandqueer is making his return to the 773 VERY soon! I'll keep y'all up on that!
OK! That's it! Stay up, stay inspired, and keep on cranking out those hits!
I don't have time for all this updating, my band has a show to play!
Cheers to everyone. Got some good zines here, as always. Zine reading with Aaron Cynic some time in the near future, as well as another with Matt G of Next Stop Adventure. Details coming later. And of course, the Hip Lit Fair at the MCA in May. Thanx to Bradley ADITA and Tommy Camero for getting the free record fair thing going at People's Project last week. Oh, I'm also helping to put together an Arts/Crafts fair in late May, let me know if you want to vend that sucker.
Til next time!
Well, I gotta admit, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. And for no reason in particular. But I've got a stack of zines that just never seem to make it on the site, and for that I apologize. If you've sent me your zine, and are wondering why it ain't listed yet, just know that I apologize. I'm just one man, and I get distracted oh so easily.
That being said, I'm very happy to have a couple new ones up here, including one I wrote myself. Browse them out, you might want to order one. Caboose 6 is great, the new SOC is a glimpse into ReyRey's mind, Junk Drawer 2 is all about finding free stuff on the side of the road, and Resilient talks about the world's 2 greatest cities, New York and Chicago!
My brain is tired from tonight's session of HTML, but here are a couple things to mark on your calanders: “Zines, Comics, and Other Hip Lit Fair” on Saturday, May 17, 2008 from 12-4 pm at the Museum of Contemporary Art, co presented with Quimby’s Bookstore. This is something you can attend, but I don't think there are any more openings for participants. The following week, however, there will be a DIY/Craft/Art fair at Schubas, and there are some open tables for that yet. Let me know if you're the type who might want to reserve a table and sell some junk. Loop Distro will table both events.
It's 1am, and fresh snow has just piled up on my sidewalk. I'm gonna update this shnizz, then go clear that white stuff out my way! Hope everyone is having a wonderful life out there, and please keep up all the good works!
Oh, one more thing! A sneak preview of stickers to come....
Chicago melted out for a week, but now we're back to being a frozen city. Everyone I know is working on new issues, including myself! I don't care how cold it is, I'm inspired about life people! I'm writing letters, cutting stencils, and learning about the Koran. Life is grand! Zine parties are being planned here in the frozen city, and art shows keep on happening!
New this week, a couple of Kelly's awesome zines, a cool photo zine from Mark, and LB's zine she gave me like 2 months ago. Plus Stream of Conciousness is back in stock after I sold all my issues in a month! Zine record! I even sent one to Guam! Click here to read Kymm's awesome letter!
That's it for now. I'll try to keep myself holed up, listening to Cattle Decapitation and reading zines! Maybe some day I'll have everything posted that I actually have in stock! Take care, kids, and stay warm!
Oh, people! It's been 2 months since my last update! That's what happens when I decide to go back to school. I started making films again, which is great, but my distro time has been cut down. But here in Chicago we're getting snow piled up on top of us, so I bet January will allow me some time to catch up on some things. But keep the orders coming in, I'm still filling those (although emailing ahead to make sure stuff is in stock is always a good idea.)
Well, I'm very happy to have 2 of my all time favorite zines back in stock, Fluffer and Ugly Cutie! Kaitlin is the dopest artist around, and this is your chance to own some of her soul for only a dollar a shot! Also got the new Meniscus, as well as a couple zines by Chicago's very own Viking (yes, THAT Viking...) Oh, and of course the group zine we made at Ephemera Festival last month! Ha!
Not sure of any zine events going on right now. It's hibernation time. But maybe we should all get together, eh? I'm always down for some hangout time, just drop me an email people! And keep up all the good work out there!
